USA: Disney Reveals First Model of New Star Wars-Themed Lands

During this year’s D23 Expo (the Disney in-house exhibition) in Anaheim/CA, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek revealed the first richly detailed model of the Star Wars-themed lands planned to be launched in 2019 at Disneyland Park Anaheim and Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando/FL. Both single-themed lands will occupy an area of some 5.6 hectares (14 acres) each, featuring two anchor attractions: one that gives guests the chance to pilot the “Millennium Falcon” space ship on a customized secret mission, the other one putting them right in the middle of a battle between “The First Order” and “The Resistance”.

“To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement,” Chapek said. “All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.” Visitors to Disney parks around the world can already enjoy Star Wars-featured entertainment in joyful anticipation, e.g. at the Disney Hollywood Studios (c.f.
