USA: Plans for LEGOLAND® New York Continue in the Approval Process

Some months ago, Merlin Entertainments announced its plans for the opening of LEGOLAND® New York by 2019, the world’s seventh Legoland park, on an approx. 211 hectare large site in the town of Goshen, located in the US state of New York (cf. EAP, 1/17). In the ongoing approval process the giant project has recently made a big step forward after the Goshen Town Board granted approval of the amendments to the town’s comprehensive plan and zoning law.

“We believe the town board’s decision is recognition of the tremendous benefits that LEGOLAND New York will have in Goshen and the surrounding Orange County communities. Both the Goshen Planning Board and Goshen Town Board have done a tremendous amount of meticulous work and we believe they truly understand the merits of this project. Their due diligence is commendable. We look forward to continuing this process and hope to be able to bring LEGOLAND New York to Goshen subject to the other necessary approvals being obtained,” said John Usher, Senior Divisional Director, LEGOLAND Development.
