SnowWorld Expands to France and Acquires Snowhall Amnéville

The Dutch indoor winter sports operating company SnowWorld continues its expansion in Europe. Yesterday, the company announced to take over operations of the indoor ski hall Snowhall Amnéville near Metz in Northern France. This will happen in the scope of a concession agreement with Destination Amnéville for an initial period of eight years, while contractual details are to be worked out in the coming period. With this step, SnowWorld enters a new market and expands its portfolio to now include a total of seven indoor winter sports facilities in the Netherlands, Germany and France. At 620 meters, the indoor ski slope at Snowhall Amnéville is said to be one of the longest of its kind in Europe. From early November, the facility will operate under the new name SnowWorld Amnéville. Besides the rebranding, the new operator also intends to develop the facility into a resort by initially adding catering and retail.

“With the arrival of SnowWorld in France, we are strengthening our position as a market leader in Europe in the field of indoor winter sports. We are looking forward to further develop the location for all target groups. From enthusiastic winter sports people to teaching programs for schools and of course professional ski teams. The start in France fits in with our ambition to make winter sports accessible for as many people as possible,” said Wim Hubrechtsen, CEO of SnowWorld.

Furthermore, the SnowWorld company also announced changes at the personnel level: Since 1 September, Timothy Melis has been the new CFO of the group of companies, following in the footsteps of interims CFO Griet Vandenheede. (eap)
