Netherlands: Efteling’s “Bäckerei Krümel“ to Open in December

As of 4 December, visitors to the Dutch theme park Efteling will be able to smell freshly baked goods around the park, when the new bakery “Bäckerei Krümel“, will official open on this day as the last puzzle piece to the “Max & Moritz“ theme area that was opened last summer (see EAP 5/2020). The building’s design was created to fit into the area’s alpine theming. An architectual highlight is the nostalgic 325-kilo-heavy double-deck oven. Guests will be able to look over the craftmen‘s shoulders during their work while enjoying a baked treat such as tray bakes, oven bread and pizzas as well as the so-called “Deugnieten“, a soft dough man with almond buiscuit taste.

The new bakery opens during Efteling’s “Winter Efteling“ season, which will run from 15 November 2021 through 6 February 2022 and will offer e.g. the “Warme Winter Weide“ area including cozy fire places and musical events. Besides the indoor theme rides, rollercoasters will stay open during this time as well.

The re-themed “Sirocco“ tea cup carousel (formerly: “Monsieur Cannibale“) and the “Archipel“ adventure island, which will be developed as part of the new theme area “The World of Sindbad“ (formerly: “Reizenrijk“ / see EAP news of 24 June 2021) are also scheduled to open to visitors this winter season.
