Safety Stop for Lotte World Korea

Lotte World Korea stopped operations on January, 8th, immediately. As The Korea Times reported, the decision came after a report reviewing Lotte World’s facility safety. The Korea Disasters Research Institute and Dongyang Structural Engineers Group conducted a two-month inspection of Lotte World and found serious problems with some attractions and the electrical equipment – but also with ceilings in some parts of the indoor park. “We had planned a full-scale renovation and closure starting March 2nd, but advanced the date as the consulting report was made public earlier,” an official said. They will renew all the facilities including the amusement park’s Adventure and Magic Island, the Swimming Pool and the Folk Museum. Lotte World will close now for about four months for full-scale repair and renovation work. (eap)
