The “Norwegian Prima“ ocean liner currently under construction at the Italian Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera – the first of six ships in this new series (class?) of the American cruise line company Norwegian Cruise Line/NCL – which is scheduled to set sail on its maiden voyage this summer and then cruise the seas of the Caribbean, aims at setting new standards for holidays on the high seas in the future, especially with its fun and entertainment offerings.

The new cruise ship, which will be 295 metres long and offer space for up to 3,215 guests in double cabins, will have “Prima Speedway“, a 420-metre-long e-kart track (by RiMO) running over three floors for the first time. Brave passengers will be able to experience a „“free fall over ten floors“ in the dry slide “The Drop“ – according to NCL, the attraction will be the “world‘s first dry slide with free fall“. In addition, there will be two parallel dry slides for a sliding race.

Water fun is also not to be neglected on the newest ship in the Norwegian fleet: The offering will stand out from that of sister ships with, among other things, the first “Tidal Wave“ water slide, and there will also be two infinity whirlpools. A range of exciting indoor attractions (including simulator and VR experiences), entertaining show formats (musical productions and live gaming shows) and activities for all ages, such as mini-golf enhanced with digital features, will form part of the offer to ensure varied fun for holidaymakers.

As the second ship of the “Prima“ series, “Norwegian Viva“ is to set sail for the first time in June 2023, as NCL announced only a few days ago. The ship, designed for 3,219 guests, is to mainly offer routes in the Mediterranean. During the sea days between stops at ports such as Lisbon, Civitavecchia (Rome) and Piraeus (Athens), also a three-storey go-kart track as well as a free-fall and two competition dry slides, among numerous other attractions, are also to provide varied entertainment fun for travellers. The new Prima-class ships are also to be equipped with alternative technologies such as a NOx reduction system for lower-emission ship operation. (eap)
