Sweden: Kolmården CEO Christine Karmfalk to Also Take Over Management of Skara Sommarland

After more than five years, Janne Nilsson (l.) will step down as CEO at Skara Sommarland (part of Parks and Resorts Scandinavia) effective next summer. The management of the park will in future be taken over by Christine Karmfalk (r.), the current CEO of the animal and amusement park Kolmården, which belongs to the same operating group. Karmfalk will from then on be responsible for both parks. During his tenure at Skara Sommarland, Janne Nilsson has been able to contribute significantly to the park’s development, for example in the area of sustainability with a focus on reducing food waste, in the creation of new attractions, and in building important relationships with the municipalities and the tourism industry.

“I have worked in many industries and have been aware for some time now that I would like to do more jobs before I retire. Now that the company is rebuilding Skara Sommarland after the pandemic, it is better to bring in a long-term leader for this. I will stay as long as it takes to be able to carry out a safe and orderly handover,” Nilsson says.

“With the departure of Janne Nilsson, a very popular CEO is leaving us and we wish him good luck in future projects. With the double appointment, we want to ensure more resources, secure leadership and long-term stable development for Skara Sommarland. Christine Karmfalk is a popular executive who has already gained experience in managing several geographically different but similar operations within a group. I am convinced that this will lead to many positive synergies for everyone,” says Christer Fogelmarck, CEO of Parks and Resorts Scandinavia. Janne Nilsson will successively hand over his position to Christine Karmfalk and will leave the company by 31 August 2022 at the latest. (eap)
