Germany: Start of the VDFU Summer Meeting at Freizeit-Land Geiselwind

Today, members of the German Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions – Verband Deutscher Freizeitparks und Freizeitunternehmen e.V. (VDFU) –, come together for the organization’s annual summer meeting taking place until Wednesday this week, this time at Freizeit-Land Geiselwind and Erlebnispark Schloss Thurn in Bavaria. One main focus of this year’s educational program continues lying on the topic of HR management: In two seminar parts today and on Wednesday participants will be given theoretic management approaches and best practices by speaker Maik Christian Schmidt (General manager of Planet Leisure Berlin). Tomorrow, there will be an official welcome reception at Freizeit-Land for all members who have traveled to the park by Managing Director Matthias Mölter, who took over the park in early 2017 and has since developed it further and added new themed areas. After the welcome reception, there will be a guided park tour with a look behind the scenes – followed by the opportunity to discover the park individually or to linger over coffee and cake in the ice cream factory for personal conversations with industry colleagues.

Later in the afternoon, there will be a bus transfer to Erlebnispark Schloss Thurn, where the owning family Hanna Countess of Bentzel and Benedikt Count of Bentzel will welcome the VDFU members. Participants will have exclusive access to selected attractions before enjoying a “Wild West Dinner” in the Western Town Saloon in the evening. On Wednesday, part 2 of the HR workshop will take place back at Freizeit-Land Geiselwind. A review of the highlights of this year’s VDFU Summer Meeting and photo impressions will be available for you in our next EAP magazine issue, to be published on November 1. (eap)
