Germany: WATERCLIMBING Receives Patent for Encapsulated Service System

The patent for their “Encapsulated Service System“ applied for in 2009 by the Nuremberg-based company WATERCLIMBING was granted. WATERCLIMBING manufactures climbing walls up to seven meters high, which allow climbing fun above the water. By gently falling or jumping into the water, no equipment or belay partner is required for this climbing experience.

The patent granted is granted for the “Encapsulated Service System“ by WATERCLIMBING, which is designed to enable the cleaning and necessary inspection of the climbing routes by just one person. In the pylon on the outside of the climbing wall there is a maintenance hatch for this purpose. When the cleat located in this hatch is released, a service rope drops down with which the person performing cleaning or maintenance work can secure himself. When the work is finished, the rope is retrieved and stored in the pylon of the wall until the next use. (eap)
