Italy: Several Artifical Skiing & Snow Tubing Projects Realised in Milan

The Italian manufacturer Neveplast, who produces artificial slopes for alpine skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing (for use in winter and summer seasons), was able to realize three projects in Milan this winter. In December, the fashionable Piazza Gae Aulenti was transformed into a “Swiss Winter Village”, equipped, among other things, with a ski slope made by Neveplast. The slope could be skied either classically with skis or with snow tubes. The project was very successful not only for the manufacturer but also for the client, Switzerland Tourism.

Until January 8, the Piazza Duca d’Aosta in Milan also hosted the “Sensation on Ice”, the largest ice rink ever seen in the city. In addition, there was also a snow tubing track from Neveplast, which also proved to be a great success. On two straight tracks, young and old could enjoy a slide session here right in front of the entrance to the main station.

Still open to visitors is an “S-KID” electric kart track from Neveplast (see EAP 1/2016), installed in the “Il Centro” shopping center in Arese, on the outskirts of Milan. The track is especially designed for children and teenagers, who can race around the track in go-karts equipped with a double motor. The 120-meter-long track was equipped with a special Neveplast surface, which, thanks to its sliding properties, is supposed to give a feeling of gliding on a track covered with snow or ice. In this way, the young guests can enjoy go-kart driving and at the same time also get a feeling for how to skillfully countersteer and counteract skidding. (eap)
