Bestwig / Deutschland: Fort Fun Abenteuerland with New Operator

As announced earlier this year, One World Holding GmbH & Co. KG took over operations of Bestwig, Germany's Fort Fun Abenteuerland and Grévin Deutschland GmbH on December 23, 2011. The amusment park, which has belonged to the French operator group Compagnie des Alpes since 2002, is operated by One World Nordrhein-Westfalen GmbH, a company of One World Group, with immediate effect. According to One World Group, owned by the Baden-Württemberg family business Ziegler, the company plans to relocate their headquarters and all of their corporate divisions to the Sauerland region in order to be able to carry out the expansion of the park flexibly and quickly. Matthäus Ziegler (28), son of the tradition-rich distillery Ziegler from Freudenberg on the Main, acts as the company’s Managing Director. With One World Studios GmbH, founded by Olaf and Karl Heinz Mordelt in the previous year, the new owner of Fort Fun has an experienced partner at his side in terms of thematization and park design. Despite of several reconstructions works starting during the coming weeks, Fort Fun will be opened on more days and have extended opening hours as well as new events and attractions in 2012. Additionally, the park remains open for visitors during the construction phase. The facility is planned to be altered to become an amusement park with international significance. (eap)
