Germany: TimeRide VR Cologne Welcomes 11,111th Visitor

At the end of September this year, a new attraction offering guests a special journey through the Rhine metropolis was opened in the city centre of Cologne: TimeRideVR Cöln immerses visitors into the imperial time at the beginning of the 20th century (cf. EAP, 5/17). Equipped with Oculus Rift headsets, visitors experience a virtual tour on an electric tram alongside the Rhine shore and the majestic Cologne Cathedral. During the virtual ride, guests are sitting in a replica model of a historic tram car. According to Communications and Site Manager Matthias Flierl, around 85 per cent of the guests come into contact with the virtual reality technology for the very first time during the virtual time travel.

Only two months after its opening, the new visitor attraction has welcomed its 11,111th visitor this past Sunday. Jonas Rothe, CEO of TimeRide GmbH, is proud of this great success: “It is incredible how much positive visitor feedback we receive with TimeRideVR and how warm Cologners feel with our time travel offer. Many visitors have already become real fans and come back regularly with their family and friends or they give away vouchers for birthdays or Christmas. I am very pleased that we are able to celebrate this visitor number in such a short time after the opening,” said Rothe. (eap)
