USA: LEGOLAND Florida Resort Announces Large-Scale Investment to Develop New “The LEGO Movie World” Theme Area

Located in Winter Haven/FL, the LEGOLAND Florida Resort has recently announced its plans to develop a new theme area dubbed “The LEGO® MovieTM World”, representing the largest investment in the park’s history until to date. The new area, which is set to open in 2019, will feature the “The LEGO Movie” animation film from Phil Lord and Chris Miller (released in 2014), immersing young park visitors into the streets of Emmet’s hometown of Bricksburg.

“The sights and sounds will be fully immersive bringing ‘The Lego Movie’ franchise to life in a way that only a Legoland park could […],” commented Rex Jackson, General Manager of Legoland Florida Resort. “The LEGO Movie World”, which is being developed in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and LEGO Systems A/S, will offer three exciting rides, character meet & greets and a giant play structure.

One of the new theme area’s key attractions will be the existing “The Quest for Chi” interactive boat ride (from Mack Rides), which will be closed down on May 29th this year to receive a complete makeover. The attraction will reopen in 2019, surprising park guests with a new ride experience. (eap)
