England: Legoland® Windsor Opens Unique Sensory Room

The Legoland Windsor Resort near London recently opened the first-of-its-kind calming sensory room in a theme park, especially for guests with additional sensory needs. In cooperation with the British company Total Sensory the park now offers a room with diverse calming elements, located in the Heartlake City-theme area. The company usually provides sensory room solutions for schools, hospices or care homes.

The new sensory room at Legoland features among others vibrating bean bags, interactive projections, bubble tubes and light installations. The park now offers this room as a retreat for guests with a special need for calm. A spokesperson for the National Autistic Society commented: “Many autistic children love trips to theme parks. […] A calming place […] can help them to relax and really enjoy their visit. […] Supportive spaces like these play an essential role in opening up the world for autistic children and their families.” (eap)
