Germany: New Racing Car Simulators at Autostadt Wolfsburg

Germany’s Autostadt, which is located in the city of Wolfsburg around the Volkswagen car supply center, has added four new race car simulator units to its visitor offer for a virtual racing experience. The motion-based simulators come from Berlin-based SiFaT Road Safety company – each unit is equipped with three large screens on which parts of the car and the selected racing track are displayed. High-performance computers steer the respective motion platforms so that drivers can feel the acceleration and braking processes or when they drive into the gravel bed. Currently, guests can select between four (real) racing circuits and seven car models, including an “Audi R8 LMS”, a “Porsche GT3 Cup” and a “Bentley Blower”.

“[…] In the leisure sector, the trend in racing sports is going towards professional offers which, thanks to their technical equipment, provide a truly realistic racing experience,” explains Klaus Haller, Managing Director of SiFaT. In 2018, Autostadt Wolfsburg recorded around 2.28 million visitors (cf. our Park Report in EAP 2/2019). (eap)
