Spain: PortAventura to Open New “Colorado Creek“ Theme Hotel Tomorrow

Tomorrow will see the opening of the new “Colorado Creek” theme hotel at PortAventura World, the theme park resort close to the Spanish city of Tarragona, expanding the resort’s overnight capacity by 150 rooms to a total of over 2,200 rooms. Located in the “Far West” theme area of PortAventura Park, “Colorado Creek” features a gold rush theme. Parallelly to the opening of its sixth theme hotel, PortAventura World is also expanding its related convention center, which currently hosts up to 4,000 persons, by adding an additional space of 6,000 square meters. In the future, a total of 20,000 square meters will be available for conventions and corporate events.

A special project was announced at the beginning of this month by the PortAventura foundation (Fundación PortAventura): an almost 9,000 square meter accommodation complex with six holiday homes of 130 square meters each is currently under construction in the resort, dubbed “PortAventura Dreams Village”. It will offer barrier-free accommodation for seriously ill children and their families. With its opening scheduled for September this year, the Dreams Village is expected to welcome up to 200 families per year, who will be invited by PortAventura to free park visits and overnight stays, enabling those families to spend a happy time together. In cooperation with a number of partners and investors, more than four million Euro will flow into the project.

In April this year, the PortAventura park has opened its new “Street Mission” family dark ride based on the Sesame Street® IP – read all about the new attraction in our upcoming July/August issue no. 4/19. (eap)
