Germany: New Pirate World at PLAYMOBIL-FunPark Now Open

After a construction period of nine months, last week saw the opening of the re-designed pirate world area at Germany’s PLAYMOBIL-FunPark (we reported on this in our park report in EAP issue 2/2019). As of now, park guests can discover a giant pirate ship, a shipwreck and a mysterious pirate lagoon featuring diverse play and climbing elements on an area of 5,300 square meters (formerly 4,800 square meters). The pirate ship is 25 meters long, 5.8 meters wide and has a height of 13 meters. It weighs around 30 tons and was built from robinia wood. On the pirate lake a total of ten rafts as well as two rafts for pulling are available. The shipwreck as well as one raft and one raft for pulling each are accessible for wheelchair users. All wooden elements in the new pirate area – including the two ships – were supplied by SIK-Holz. All other work was carried out by regional companies.

The redesign of the Pirate World is the most elaborate reconstruction in the park’s history to date. Most recently, PLAYMOBIL FunPark recorded more than 900,000 guests. (eap)
