Japan: Tokyo DisneySea® Opens “Soaring: Fantastic Flight“

Based on the ride concept of the existing “Soarin’” flying theater attractions at other Disney parks (Disney California Adventure, Epcot & Shanghai Disney Resort), Japan’s Tokyo DisneySea®, which is operated by the Oriental Land Company, today opens its all-new “Soaring: Fantastic Flight” attraction, inviting guests to a virtual flight above spectacular landscapes around the world.

Before the flight experience starts, visitors pass a pre-show area, designed as a museum dedicated to humankind’s enduring dream of flying. According to the storyline, the museum celebrates Camellia Falco, a visionary innovator in the field of aviation, with a retrospective of her life. Her greatest achievement was a flying vehicle called “Dream Flyer”, on which guests can now experience their flight around the world …

Two ride systems are installed in the attraction, located in two separate theaters and with a capacity of 87 passengers each. The approx. five-minute flight experience features new scenes and visuals exclusive to Tokyo DisneySea. According to the park, the total investment sum for “Soaring: Fantastic Flight” amounts to just under 150 million Euro (approx. 18 billion Yen). (eap)
