Aqualux –Therme Fohnsdorf / Austria: Prefare Hotel Construction than Bankruptcy

The thermal spa Aqualux, which opened its doors two years ago and which is very much estimated for its architecture and equipment, is threatened to become a money pit. The Austrian “Kleine Zeitung” reported at the end of November: “Without new subventions not only the bankruptcy but also the illiquidity of the local authority will be a threat.” The certified accountant of the thermal spa called for a professional management and the construction of a 120-room hotel in order to grant chances to the facility to become a future short-term destination. In the case of bankruptcy, according to the newspaper which refers to the audit report of the local supervisor, “the local authority would have to pay immediately all liabilities in the amount of 29.4 million euros” and furthermore to charge off subventions of five million euros.
