Australia: “Sky Voyager“ at Dreamworld Now Open – Park Announces New Coaster for 2020

Today saw the opening of the new “Sky Voyager” flying theater attraction at Australia’s Dreamworld park, in which visitors can experience a nearly six-minute, virtual flight above twelve different regions of the “red continent”. The i-ride from Brogent offers a capacity of 60 passengers per flight and is “the first flying theater in the southern hemisphere”, according to the park. Originally, the opening of the attraction had been announced for the end of 2018 (see EAP 4/2018) – according to Australian media reports, it was delayed due to regulatory hurdles amongst other reasons.

For the coming 2020 season, the park, operated by Australia-based Ardent Leisure Group, has already announced another big hit: from next year on, a new 1.2 kilometer long launch coaster featuring multiple inversions from the German manufacturer Mack Rides (“Blue Fire” model) is to delight roller coaster fans and thrill-seekers among park guests. In addition, for the related WhiteWater World waterpark a total of six new slides have been announced, also scheduled to open next year. (eap)
