Disney Invests: New “Avengers“ Theme Areas, Cruise Fleet Growth & Epcot Novelties

During the annual Disney in-house exhibition “D23 Expo”, held in Anaheim/CA this past weekend, Bob Chapek (Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences & Products) announced details of the planned investments in guest experiences for the coming years.

An all-new Marvel theme area will expand the visitor offer of Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Paris, the name of which will be “Avengers Campus” as was revealed during the D23 Expo. In the new areas, guests will be able to experience the first ride-through attraction featuring the “Spider-Man” IP in a Disney theme park (cf. EAP News of 12th Feb 2018).

Another major investment was announced for the Disney Cruise Line fleet, which will be expanded by three new ships. The first of the new “ocean giants” is scheduled to set sail for its maiden voyage in January 2022 under the name of “Disney Wish” (featuring a “Rapunzel” theme).

For the Epcot park (part of the Walt Disney World Studios, FL), Chapek announced a number of novelties, including Disney’s first “Mary Poppins” attraction, which will be part of the park’s UK pavilion. In the French pavilion, visitors will be able to experience the new “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” attraction as of summer 2020.
