USA: “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge“ Debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Today, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando/Florida celebrates the official opening of “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge“ at its related Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The all-new theme area, which opened at Disneyland Park in Anaheim/California in May this year (cf. EAP News of 31 May 2019), is the largest and most technologically advanced single-themed land expansion in a Disney park until to date. The 14-acre (approx. 5 hectares) land transport guests to the remote planet of Batuu, known from the Star Wars film franchise.

“With the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, we’ve set a new standard for immersive storytelling,“ said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “Every experience in Batuu – from piloting the Millenium Falcon to building your own droid – puts guests deeper into their own Star Wars story.“ One of the area’s two main attractions is “Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run“, a media-based simulation ride in which guests take control of the famous space ship from the featured movies as pilots, gunners or flight engineers. The second anchor attraction, “Star Wars: Rise of Resistance“, will debut on 5 December this year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and on 17 January 2020, at Disneyland Park in Anaheim.
