GB: Alton Towers Resort Expands Accommodation Offering with New “Stargazing Pods“

With its new “Stargazing Pods“ the Alton Towers Resort, located in Staffordshire (England), has been offering new accommodation facilities since spring this year. The small camping-style pods are minimally furnished with one double and two single beds, including under-bed storage. They are equipped with features such as heating, charging points for electronic devices and WiFi. Communual sanitary facilities with toilets, accessible showers and baby changing facilities are located on the campsite. The 102 miniature houses are arranged in “the green“ close to the resort’s “Enchanted Village“ accommodation site southeast of the park. To observe the night sky, visitors are invited to use telescopes. “More and more families are looking for affordable UK-short breaks where they can spend quality time together, try new things and enjoy their favourite destinations,“ comments Ian Crabbe, Divisional Director at Alton Towers Resort.

The wooden pods were constructed by the factory of Hawthorne Forest Product from County Armagh, Northern Ireland. The timber used for the pods is sustainably sourced European Whitewood from managed forests in Finland under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) guidelines. (eap)
