Sweden: Liseberg Receives Go-Ahead for Construction of Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel

After almost six years of planning, Sweden’s leisure park Liseberg has just received the green light for the construction start of the park-integrated Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel in Gothenburg. The new accommodation facility, which required an investment volume of more than 100 million EUR (1,179 million SEK), will offer 457 rooms. The new hotel is part of Liseberg‘s centennial expansion project for 2023, which also includes the construction of an indoor waterpark (cf. EAP 4/17 / cf. EAP-News f. 6. Feb 2017). “We intend to sign an agreement with a contractor within the next week, and construction will start in October,“ says Thomas Sjöstrand, CPO at Liseberg.

The Grand Curiosa Hotel, which will be inspired by the history of Gothenburg and the East India Trading Company in its design, will focus on families with children. To provide – especially the kids – with an unforgettable overnight stay at the park, the hotel will have slides between the floors and an old wooden carousel from 1923. The hotel also includes a restaurant, a roof bistro and several meeting- and event facilities. (eap)
