Vietnam: New “The Sea Shell“ Aquarium To Open in Early 2020

The island resort Phu Quoc, which is developed by real estate company Vingroup‘s leisure division Vinpearl, announced the scheduled opening for a new leisure facility highlight on the island. A new island aquarium named “The Sea Shell“ will open in early 2020. The building, which will be shaped like a turtle, was designed in cooperation of Vinpearl with Hollywood-based architecture firm Legacy Entertainment. “In Vietnam, even before working on this project, we had been fascinated by Vietnamese mythology relating to turtles. So when this project began, it was one of the first ideas we honed in on,“ said Taylor Jeffs, President and Chief Creative Officer of Legacy Entertainment.

To create one of the most modern and humane aquarium facilities, Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT) from Australia was engaged to create a new aquarium experience. Jason Vanhinnisdael, Business Development Manager at AAT, explains: “From the ample tank design, to the state-of-the-art Life Support Systems, Vinpearl’s Sea Shell will be a model for all other aquarium developers moving forward.“ The Sea Shell is only one small part of the master plan for the so-called Vinpearl Land, which includes the extension of the island‘s theme and water parks and the resort facilities.
