Asia Therme Linsberg, Austria: Light & shadow

The Asia Therme celebrated its first birthday in the middle of August: 292,000 visitors have passed through the doors of the wellness temple since it opened in August 2008. The thermal springs’ hotel has had 47,000 guests stay over, which means it has been operating at more than 60 percent capacity. According to its own presentation, the seminar and conference facilities have seen positive development. Austrian media, however, has reported of payment problems, with some suppliers having had to wait for weeks for their money. Speaking to the Kurier, Holger Schwartnig, managing director of Asia Therme, confirmed that there had in the past been various liquidity squeezes. (eap)
