USA: New Norwegian Encore Cruise Ship Set Sail with Two-Storey Karting Track

Earlier this month, the newest ship in the fleet of US-based Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) company, the “Norwegian Encore”, set sail for its maiden voyage – from Europe, the new giant vessel crossed the Atlantic ocean towards the US east coast, from where the ship currently travels to the nearby Caribbean and Bermuda.

The cruise ship, which was constructed in Germany’s Meyer Werft, features a range of leisure and entertainment offerings (cf. our cruise ship special, part 2 in EAP 1/2019): Among its highlights is the two-storey, 350 meter long karting track from RiMO, on which 22 “SiNUS iON” electric karts as well as four twin karts race against each other. In addition to the racing fun, a laser game was integrated into the attraction: On the grandstand centrally located within the track layout, guests can use laser shooters pointing at sensors attached to the karts in order to collect points and give the cars a boost. Thanks to seawater-resistant material, the karting track can also be driven on in rainy weather.

In addition to the karting track, the Norwegian Encore offers a range of further fun attractions, such as an aqua park with water slides from Aquarena, an open-air lasertag zone as well as a 900 square meter large indoor complex, in which guests can experience virtual reality, play an escape room game and more.
