Nürburgring: “ring°werk” opens

In the middle of August, after a slight delay, the “ring°werk” area also opened. Driving shops, a 3D cinema, simulators and exhibitions fill the 15,000 square metre plot. However, there is still no set opening date for the most important attraction of the Nürburgring expansion: the “ring°racer” rollercoaster. During a TÜV (German standard) test series, the pneumatic starting device of the rollercoaster failed due to technical faults. – There is controversy surrounding the calculated or expected visitor numbers. Ulrich Müller-Oltay, Managing Director of VDFU (Association of German Theme Parks and Leisure Industry) expressed his scepticism about this to Rheinpfalz. When speaking to the paper, he referred to necessary “repeat offenders” and the new investments needed for this. – Extensive information on the new Nürburgring and the political-financial wranglings can be found in issue 5 of our magazine, which will be released in September.
