Germany: Thomas, Michael & Ann-Kathrin Mack Received “Hotelier of the Year“ Award

v.l.: Michael, Ann-Kathrin und Thomas Mack mit Laudator Fritz Keller (DFB-Präsident)

Since 1990, the Allgemeine Hotel- und Gastronomie-Zeitung (ahgz / Eng.: “General Paper for Hotels and Gastronomy“) has been honoring the “best hotelier of the year“ in Germany. This year, Thomas, Michael and Ann-Kathrin Mack, shareholders of the Europa-Park in Rust, Germany were honored with the award for their outstanding achievements in the hotel business, especially for the expansion of the amusement park resort by the opening of the new museum hotel Krønasår and the themed water world of Rulantica. The Europa-Park Resort currently comprises six hotels and a campsite and is under steady development to surprise its visitors with novelties every year. In May 2019, the museum hotel was opened to guests (cf. EAP news 24 May 2019), followed by the all-new indoor water world Rulantica in November (cf. EAP 1/2020). “With an investment of 200 million Euros the eighth generation of the Mack family set the course for the next decades to come. This decision requires a lot of foresight and courage for the entrepreneurial risk,“ says Rolf Westermann, head of the jury and chief editor of ahgz.

Thomas Mack comments: “For our family business, my brother Michael, my sister Ann-Kathrin and me the honor to receive the award for best hotelier of the year is a dream come true. For myself, I’ve been a passionate hotelier for years. We, a team of the younger generation, achieved this success together. We are very happy to step into our father’s footsteps [Editor’s note: Roland Mack received the award in 2000]. With the help of our families and a strong team as well as our partners at our side, we will continue the successful story of Europa-Park.“ (eap)
