Cottbus: “Lagune” water park insolvent

The private operator of the water park “Lagune” in Cottbus has registered for insolvency due to inability to pay on Ash Wednesday. However the bath operation is still continuing to run. Last year instead of the predicted 180,000 visitors, only 155,000 guests came to “Lagune”. The 5,000m² bath, which was erected in May 2007 for €16.7 million, has been in financial difficulties for a long time – in total the losses piled up to more than €500,000. A significant reason for the crash is the concentration and competition of water parks in the structurally and demographically weak region of South East Brandenburg. (eap)
