USA: 150th Anniversary Celebration at Cedar Point Postponed

Like every other theme park in the USA, the self-proclaimed “Roller Coaster Capital of the World“ Cedar Point, located in Sandusky/Ohio, is still closed to the public. Therefore the park management now decided to postpone this year‘s 150th anniversary celebrations. “Our team determined that a celebration of this magnitude must be done right. In order to observe and respect social distancing, we have made the decision to postpone this much anticipated event until next season,“ explains Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point.

The postponement also includes the postponement of the launch of the new“Snake River Expedition“ attraction to 2021, a themed boat ride on which guest will become part of a group of smugglers, according tot he storyline.

To support the US-American theme park industry, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) just sent an official letter to the US Congress appealing for financial aid packages to help businesses in the industry. (cf. EAP news of 13 May 2020). (eap)
