USA: More Florida Theme Parks Are Preparing to Reopen Soon

As well as the Universal Orlando Resort, which will gradually reopen its related park sites as of 5th June (cf. EAP news of 25 May 2020), other large Florida theme parks are preparing to welcome guests again soon. The Walt Disney World Resort just announced its plans for a phased reopening as of 11th July, after having received the official permit of Orange County. The resort’s related Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will open first on 11th July, to be followed by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on 15th July. Somewhat sooner, the Legoland Florida Resort will welcome guests back as of 1st June. Its reopening also includes the related Legoland waterpark facility as well as the hotels. In this course, the park will celebrate the opening of the new Legoland© Pirate Island Hotel (cf. EAP news of 29 Oct 2019).

The safety and hygiene measures that will apply, which are defined by the operators, include the purchase of online tickets only, temperature scans at the park entrances, high frequency cleaning, the frequent sanitization „high touch“ points and cashless payment. For additional safety, visitors will be recommended to wear a face mask and to pay attention to social distancing regulations. For hand sanitization, the parks will install dispensers across their facilities.

Theme parks in the “Golden State” of California, including SeaWorld San Diego, Legoland California and Disneyland California, are also in discussions with the responsible authorities, but have not confirmed any concrete reopening dates yet. (eap)
