Germany: Industry Associations of the Swimming Pool Sector Jointly Appeal to Federal Minister of Health

On behalf of the public swimming pools in Germany, the European Waterpark Association (EWA), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für das Badewesen e.V. and the IAKS Deutschland e.V. jointly appeal to Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn to achieve the near-term reopening of pool facilities.

In recent months, the member companies of the associations have invested a great deal of time and money in the development and implementation of hygiene concepts to enable them to reopen their respective facilities under controlled conditions. Physical evidence and expert opinions from renowned scientists for safe bath operations are available. Also, the elementary contribution of public baths and health resorts to people’s health should not be neglected, especially in the cold season.

The trade associations urgently request the examination of the documents provided and the permission to reopen public swimming pools by 1 December at the latest. Read the complete letter to the Federal Minister of Health here (in German language). (eap)
