Hong Kong: 11 SKIES – New World Developement Invests Billions into New Mixed Use Complex Near Hong Kong International Airport

The Chinese conglomerate New World Development recently announced the construction of a new mixed use complex with the name 11 SKIES in direct neighboorhood to Hong Kong International Airport, which will combine retail, dining and entertainment offerings with wealth and wellness management. The total ground space of around 35 hectares (3.8 million square feet) will be seperated into a 25 hectare-large (2.66 million square feet) retail and dining space, which will feature over 800 shops as well as an office space and an entertainment area of five hectares each (570,000 square feet).   

Adrian Cheng, CEO of New World Development and Founder of K11 Group, which will oversee the operation of the facility, said: “11 SKIES will be a game-changer for Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. It is the first project that comprehensively combines retail, dining, entertainment, together with wellness and wealth management in one complete ecosystem for people in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area and the rest of the world.“

The entertainment area will feature the first KidZania location in China and is scheduled to open in 2023. Xavier Lopez Ancona, CEO an founder of KidZania commented: “We are excited about the upcoming opening of the first KidZania in Greater Bay Area (GBA) at 11 SKIES. […] We look forward to sharing our playful and experiential learning model with kids in Hong Kong and from around the world.” Additionally, the complex will be home to the “SkyTrack“, which will be the world’s longest indoor and outdoor karting track, according to the operator. The karting system will feature electrically-powered karts and an AR-enabled interactive control system. Forrec Design has been contracted with the design for the kart experience which is planned to open in 2022.

11 Skies will open in phases from 2022 to 2025. (eap)
