Spain: Sweet Space Madrid – A Colorful, Sugary-Sweet World of Art

The ABC Serrano shopping center located on the Paseo de la Castellana avenue in Madrid has recently been added a new attraction: On the second floor, guests can now immerse themselves in the Sweet Space Museum – a colorful, sugary-sweet art experience world, where colors, sweets and creativity are the protagonists. It is based on the fictional story of the astronaut “Astro”, who is lost on Earth and seeks his way to return to his home planet – a sugary place in our galaxy.

A total of ten themed rooms make up the Sweet Space universe, designed by various renowned artists. For example, Spanish fashion designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada provided a concept of her idea of a “sweet heaven”, street art artist Okuda San Miguel installed a slide leading into a colorful parallel world and successful Catalan pastry chef Christian Escribà designed a “candy forest”. In the “Ice Cream Lab”, which is run as part of the Sweet Space Museum in cooperation with Töto Ice Cream, guests can enjoy delicious ice cream creations before continuing their way through a waterfall installation consisting of Chupa Chups lollipops to the “Sweet Gift Shop”, where there are all kinds of sweet treats to taste and purchase.

During their visit guests are accompanied by guides, the “Sweeters” (inhabitants of the Sweet Space planet), who provide information about the art installations and invite to participate in various activities. (eap)
