Mickey Mouse & Keith Haring: New Disney Product Collaborations

Simple lines, clear messages, timeless design – this is what the works of pop artist Keith Haring, who died in 1990, were known for. Haring himself was once a big Walt Disney fan and “Mickey Mouse” lover. Repeatedly, the cartoon character appeared reinterpreted in his works. “I always wanted to work for Walt Disney when I was growing up, when I was a kid and in some ways I think he is one of the three most important artists of the 20th century along with Warhol and Picasso,” Haring once said. Now Disney has teamed up with the Keith Haring Studio to bring a range of apparel and accessories collections to retailers worldwide through 2021. The companies paying tribute to the two pop icons Haring and Mickey Mouse include Uniqlo, Max Bone, Stance, Levi’s, Swatch, Coach and Zara. This collaboration is a continuation of Disney’s celebration of Keith Haring’s inspired artistic interpretations of Mickey Mouse which was commemorated in 2018 as part of the “Mickey: The True Original Exhibition” celebrating Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary.
