USA: These are the 2021 Six Flags Novelties!

Despite of the continued crisis, the US Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has planned numerous new attractions for its parks to open later this year. In the coming season, the operating group will celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Bonnie Weber, Senior Vice President Park Operations, comments: “Our guests and team members are ready for the return of fun and signature Six Flags thrills in 2021.” She adds, “Last year, we set the standard for operating our parks safely, and entertained millions of guests in adherence to government and CDC health guidelines at 21 of our 26 parks. We offered a local and outdoor entertainment venue spanning dozens to hundreds of acres where families and friends could safely spend time together. We kept our guests and team members safe by requiring masks to be worn in the parks, providing contactless temperature and security screenings, enhancing our cleaning and sanitization measures, and closely monitoring attendance throughout operating hours in order to maintain proper social distancing. Now we are hiring and preparing to reopen every Six Flags park in our system as we continue to work with state and government officials to set firm reopening dates for our parks in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mexico City, and Canada.”

Nonetheless, the US operating group suffered massive losses in visitors and revenue last year. According to the publicly traded company’s full year results, total attendance declined 79 percent to 6.8 million guests in 2020 compared to 2019 due to limited park operating schedules and capacity restrictions on days the parks were open. At the same time, however, higher per capita guest spending was recorded. All in all, the group’s total revenue decreased by 1.1 billion US dollars (to 375 million US dollars) year-over-year – a 76 percent decline.
