Disney Invests

Walt Disney is planning on investing a total of 1.1 billion dollars over a period of five years in the conversion and expansion of its theme park California Adventure. The park is located near Disneyland. With a stronger reference to Walt Disney, California Adventure is to follow more closely along the lines of Disneyland. A higher rate of visitors is expected in conjunction with this re-orientation. According to information from the “Wall Street Journal”, the park will be expanded by about 48,000 square metres. The newspaper reports that attractions are being planned with themes based on Pixar films like “Cars” and “Toy Story”. Last year California Adventure noted less than six million visitors, while roughly 15 million visited the neighbouring Disneyland. (eap)
