Abu Dhabi/UAE: Facial Recognition System to Enable Contactless Visitor Experiences at Yas Island Attractions

As part of the digital transformation strategy that developer Miral is rolling out across Yas Island on the island’s way to become a contactless leisure destination (cf. EAP news of 13 Sept 2018), all Yas theme parks are now to be equipped with state-of-the-art facial recognition technology in order to optimize their guests’ stay.

“FacePass” is the name of the system, which is to be used to biometrically capture visitors’ facial features so that access controls and payment processes can be handled without any physical contact at all parks and attractions and select retail and F&B outlets. This should not only save time and increase visitor comfort, but also ensure greater security and well-being for guests by enabling social distancing measures to be implemented even more efficiently. In the long term, the new technology is expected to be available in all facilities on the island, including residential and common areas, as well as retail and F&B destinations.

FacePass is integrated into the “Yas Island App”, which is available via the Google Play Store or the Apple Store. (eap)
