New Plopsa Park in Cooperation With Center Parcs

Plopsa is building a Plopsa Park in the Netherlands in collaboration with Center Parcs. The new theme park will be constructed next to Center Parcs De Huttenheugte (near Coevorden).
This will be the first Plopsa Park from Studio 100 in the Netherlands; up until now there had been three successful Plopsa Parks in Belgium: in De Panne, Hasselt and Coo.
In the run-up to the decision, negotiations had been held with around 35 potential cooperation partners. Talks on a Plopsa Park in Rotterdam have not yet closed. As reasons for the cooperation with Center Parcs, the company stated:

1. The family-oriented philosophy behind the De Huttenheugte Center Parcs with roughly 200,000 guests p.a.

2. The location of this Center Parcs facility, which is at a sufficient distance from the other Plopsa Parks.

3. Around four million people live within a radius of one driving hour, all of whom can be regarded as potential visitors.

The premises of the new Plopsa Park should be around 15,000 square metres, 10,000 of which will be roofed.  The new facility is to have capacities for 3,500 visitors and 300,000 guests are expected annually. Fifteen million euros were invested in the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2008 and the park should be opened by Christmas 2008. (eap)
