England, UK: Scarborough Joining with Alpamare

The plans and negotiations for a new recreational bathing complex in England’s North Yorkshire resort town of Scarborough have been underway for years. Construction permission was already granted for the Benchmark Leisure undertaking back in 2012. Now the final permits have been issued and a few weeks ago the City Council gave the go-ahead for construction of the new water park on England’s North Sea coast. According to media reports, the English water park will be operated by the same team running the Alpamare park in Bad Tölz, Germany. When asked, the company revealed to EAP that no decision has been made yet as to whether the park in England will also be called Alpamare. The new park is currently scheduled to open at Easter in 2016 and will feature a variety of water slides. The water park is part of an extensive redevelopment plan for the expansion of Scarborough’s northern coastal area known as “The Sands”. (eap)
