Spain: Terra Mitica to Open Brand-New Theme Park Hotel in 2016

Located in Benidorm, Valencia Terra Mitica has recently announced to open a brand-new theme hotel in 2016. “Grand Luxor Hotel” will be equipped with 346 rooms and be realized in two construction phases. The first phase will see the opening of 226 rooms including suites and junior suites, a large spa area with Jacuzzis, conference rooms and lush gardens. The hotel, which will be located near the Egyptian theme area of the park, will add 120 rooms in a second phase. The opening of the first section of the four-star hotel is scheduled for 2016. Total investment costs amount to 30 million Euros. For several years, the Spanish theme park has been struggling with declining visitor numbers and existential difficulties. It remains to be seen whether the new hotel will attract more visitors to Terra Mitica. (eap)
