The US-based amusement park operator Cedar Fair, headquartered in Ohio, successfully ended its financial year 2015, recording its sixth consecutive year of record results. As the company announced last week, it generated net revenues of 1.24 billion US dollars (1.1 billion euros), which is an increase of seven percent compared to the previous year. Higher revenues were primarily achieved at Carowinds, Knott’s Berry Farm and Cedar Point. The company’s net income rose by eight million US dollars (7.3 million euros) to 112 million US dollars (102 million euros). Cedar Fair traces back the record revenues to an increase in attendance figures. Visited by a total of 24.4 million guests, the company welcomed 1.1 million respectively five percent more visitors in its parks than in 2014. Out-of-park revenues amounted to 138 million US dollars (125 million euros) in 2015.

According to Cedar Fair President and CEO Matt Ouimet, the company expects “these record trends to continue” this year. In this context he refers to the openings scheduled for 2016: the “Valravn” roller coaster at Cedar Point (cf. EAP News from November 26, 2015), the “Carolina Harbor” water park at Carowinds (cf. EAP News from September 9, 2015), “Ghost Town Alive!”, an interactive guest experience at Knott’s Berry Farm, the introduction of the “WinterFest” holiday event at California’s Great America as well as “Fun Pix”, a new digital imaging platform which will be introduced at five parks in 2016.
