Forrec, a Canadian design and planning company, recently announced that Cale Heit was named to become the company’s new CEO and president, effective October 1st, 2017. He succeeds Gordon Dorrett, who will stay on as executive director offering transition support and leading special company initiatives.

After graduating from the University of Guelph (Ontario) in 1991 as a landscape architect, Heit joined Forrec two years later as a freelance landscape designer. Over the years, he steadily rose through the company’s ranks working as a landscape architect, master planner, project director and finally as executive vice president of operations. “I’m delighted to be chosen for this role in a company that means so much to me,” said Heit. “I am truly excited about the future and respecting the legacy of Gordon Dorrett. Gordon is one of the best in the business and I plan to build on his playbook by continuing to have great teams, customers, projects and partners, while still living up to the company’s core business, which is the business of fun,” he continued.

Current president and CEO, Gordon Dorrett, who has been woven into the company’s history since 1985, will stay on as executive director and board member at Forrec, providing advice to Heit as he acclimatizes to the new role. (eap)
