USA: Merlin Announces Largest Single Investment into Legoland Park
In the summer of 2018, LEGOLAND California Resort will open the new “LEGO® City Deep Sea Adventure” underwater ride, representing the largest single investment from Merlin Entertainments into a Legoland park until to date. Similar to the existing submarine rides of this type at the Legoland parks in England, Dubai and Japan, the new attraction at Legoland California, which will also be supplied by Mack Rides, will take guests onto a journey through a fascinating underwater world.
Up to twelve passengers can board one of the eight real submarines designed after the “LEGO® City Deep Sea Adventure” line of toys to be submerged underwater and immersed in an ocean habitat. Among real sea animals and LEGO figures such as octopi and scuba divers, guests find themselves on a submarine voyage exploring for a lost treasure on a sunken LEGO® shipwreck, according to the storyline. Furthermore, interactive touch screens inside the subs can be used to help the LEGO minifigure dive team to identify gems, pearls and many more throughout the journey. “I’m extremely excited for our guests to experience LEGO® City Deep Sea Adventure submarine ride,” said Peter Ronchetti, General Manager of LEGOLAND California Resort. He added, “For the first time in the United States, we are bringing our guests onboard a real submarine and taking them underwater to discover a truly amazing world filled with more than 2,000 real sea animals, including marine tropical fish, several species of stingrays and a variety of exotic sharks.”
Before the new attraction opens in summer 2018, California’s Legoland will come up with other exciting novelties: On January 12th, the new “LEGO® NINJAGO® – Master of the 4th Dimension” short film will premiere at LEGO Showplace Theater, combining 3D computer animation with 4D real-world effects. Also, spring next year will see the opening of the new 250-room LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, featuring three room themes: Knights and Dragons, Magic Wizard and Royal Princess. (eap)
