BALPPA Celebrates Its 80th Anniversary at Europa-Park

The British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) has celebrated its annual summer meeting and at the same time its 80th anniversary at the German Europa-Park at the beginning of June this year. More than 70 members came together in the German city of Rust and enjoyed the anniversary program. It included a tour behind-the-scenes of the park with the owner family Mack and the guests could try the different attractions themselves and have a look at the ongoing constructions works of the park’s new area “Ireland”, which is scheduled to open in July (cf. EAP, issue 2/2016). Another highlight was the excursion to the in-house manufacturing company Mack Rides located in Waldkirch, which is in family ownership for more than 235 years now. Mack Rides is still producing the majority of the park’s rides. Furthermore, the members took the opportunity to network and to talk about the industry’s latest developments. When the summer meeting was over, BALPPA Chairman Marshall Hill said enthusiastically: “From ten possible points Europa-Park receives 14!” (eap)
