Canada: Vortex Continues Manufacturing Expansion

About one year ago, Montreal-based water play equipment manufacturer Vortex Aquatic Structures International started expanding its manufacturing plant. In a first step around 20,000 square feet (1,858 square meters) were added to the production site, including a 2,400-square-foot (223 square meters) testing pool which, since the beginning of this year, enables Vortex to test more products at any given time and thus bring new products to the market more quickly. Recently, in the framework of the completion of phase two, the company additionally introduced advanced R&D technology, including the latest computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The new technology doubles production capacity, both in terms of run-time and parts produced. Furthermore, thanks to the additional machines, Vortex is capable of assigning production more strategically. “We’re continuing to invest in the expansion of our in-house production capabilities to drive new designs that couldn’t have been produced a short time ago. With our new machines and expanded capability, we will be able to offer our customers unique designs that delight and inspire”, Vortex’ president Stephen Hamelin comments. (eap)
