China: Asian Attractions Expo in Shanghai Breaking Records

The Asian Attractions Expo 2016, organized by the IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) in Shanghai this year, closed its doors today. Starting on June 14th, 11,500 visitors (from them 8,100 so-called buyers) from 79 countries came to the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre to get informed about the latest trends and developments in the Asian Leisure Market. With this numbers the Asian Trade Show tops its previous visitors’ record reached last year in Hongkong (2015: 8,500). Furthermore, the number of exhibitors of 414 companies (2015: 353) on the net exhibition area of 12,339 square metres reaches record-breaking results. As currently one of the fastest growing markets the Asian Leisure Industry offers huge potential for exciting new projects and attractions to be realized in the coming years.

"The industry's growth in the region was on display this week with a record-breaking number of participants, buyers and exhibitors. As I walked the show floor and listened to education speakers it was clear the energy was high and the attendees were engaged in every aspect of the show," said Paul Noland, IAAPA President and CEO.

The Asian Attractions Expo 2017 will take place from June 13th to 16th at Sands Exhibition and Convention Center in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. (eap)
