China/Germany: Sunac Cultural Tourism City Jiaxing Gets Novel Spinning Coaster Type from Maurer Rides

The Sunac Cultural Tourism City in Jiaxing (located about 100 km southwest of Shanghai) will receive a new type of roller coaster from the German manufacturer Maurer Rides, which will be the first installation of the “SC3000 NIL“ spinning coaster type – “NIL“ standing for non-inverted loop.

The spinning coaster will feature a looping element that guests do not ride through overhead. The journey will start out of a four-metre high station building. The single cars, each of which to be equipped with four seats, will first be transported up a 30-degree incline to the highest point of the track at over 17 meters, where they will then gently turn through a long right-hand bend, from where the passengers can enjoy a first panoramic view of the surrounding area. This section will be followed by a steep descent through a tunnel, reaching speeds of 70 km/h. The tunnel will be followed by an uphill section that supposedly leads through a loop, but the spinning coaster car remains above the track so that guests can once again enjoy a view instead of riding upside down. The next sections of track will include a lying figure eight and a helix, then a short straight section for orientation, before a steep Immelmann curve with an 80-degree incline follows. Finally, S-curves embedded in the ground are planned to get additional movement out of the vehicle once more before riders arrive back at the station.

The new roller coaster is scheduled to open in spring 2022. (eap)
