Deutschlandmuseum Receives World Travel Award
(eap) The Deutschlandmuseum in Berlin was recently honoured by the World Travel Awards (WTA) in the category of “Europe’s Leading New Tourist Attraction 2024” as the best new tourist attraction in Europe. “The award is further proof that we have managed to tell history in a completely new way. The leading newly opened attraction in Europe is not a wax museum, a roller coaster or a Disney castle, but a historical museum!” rejoices Robert Rückel, Managing Director of the Deutschlandmuseum.
The innovative approach of the museum, which opened in summer 2023 and brings around 2,000 years of German history to life (c.f. EAP 6/2023), was recognized by the jury. In several themed rooms, visitors are introduced into important chapters and eras of German history in an immersive and interactive way. The museum was conceived by Robert Rückel in cooperation with a team of historians, museum educators and game developers, among others. A design team led by Chris Lange (Creative Studio Berlin) was responsible for the design.
The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 in London to recognize excellence in all key areas of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. This year’s awards ceremony took place on March 6 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Berlin. ■
